WORKSHOPLV:HOUSING - Housing Shortages and Skyrocketing Prices

The COVID-19 Pandemic has substantially changed the way we work, live and communicate and has created just as many challenges as opportunities. Join us at the next WorkshopLV: Housing at 3pm on April 15th to discuss what is happening with housing in your community, school district and regionwide.

Our first housing working group of 2021 is designed to start identifying next steps, and how we evolve as the region moves into the new time that we find ourselves in. As we move forward, we need to clearly articulate the types of housing we need and where we want it, keeping in mind that foreclosure/eviction and equity are critical housing needs in the Lehigh Valley. Another important consideration are the more localized needs in school districts and communities. Municipalities and developers working in them should closely evaluate whether or not the expressed housing need can be easily accommodated, or whether more of a longer-term, larger commitment is necessary to fulfil the needs of residents.

This is a puzzle we need to solve together. Your knowledge is invaluable to the region’s housing future.

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission was formed by Lehigh and Northampton counties in 1961 to create a comprehensive plan to guide orderly growth in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Since our creation we have been dedicated to providing the best planning possible to the counties and 62 municipalities in the Lehigh Valley.
